I purchased this lens based on the many positive reviews I read.I am not disappointed.It is sharp with excellent DOF! I did not want to spend almost $ 500.00 for the AF-S, so Im learning to focus manually with my D40. I'm new at this, so this review is geared more towards those in "my league".Sometimes its hard to know what to get when you listen to "Pro", as they have a completely different standard than we casual Shooters. .
